Coin Games after a week: the small joys of flicking tokens

August 19, 2026 · Lena Hoffmann

I didn't expect much from Coin Games. The pitch sounds almost too plain: slide little tokens around a board, match them, clear the level. But I kept opening it, and a week later it's still there while flashier games got deleted.

The reason is the feel. Every token has weight and bounce, and flicking one into place makes a sound your brain seems to like. The physics are the whole experience, and they got them right. It's the kind of tactile feedback that mobile games usually fumble.

The difficulty curve is gentle and honest. Early boards are open and forgiving, then the game starts adding ledges and timed slots that make you plan the order you clear things. None of it relies on fast fingers, so I could play it one-handed on a crowded tram without stress.

On the settings side there isn't much to fiddle with, which is fine for a game this focused. I turned the music down and left everything else. Battery-wise it's a non-event, barely registering after half an hour, and the phone stayed cool.

If you want something to fill five minutes that doesn't demand a plan or a charger, Coin Games is an easy recommendation. Just a nice, clean little loop that respects your time.
